40% Kogi road projects ready for commissioning in Jan – Govt

Over 40 per cent ongoing road projects across Kogi state will be ready for commissioning in January 2019, the Chief of Staff to Kogi state governor, Chief Edward Onoja, has said.
The chief of staff who disclosed this in Lokoja yesterday while speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the 27th anniversary of the state, said the road projects, which were at various stages of completion, would receive more atten- tion immediately after the rainy seasons.
According to him, “Work on the Olamaboro Ikeje-Ibana-Okpo road is already at advanced stage of completion.
It has left Ibana, it has gone to Okpo; it has left Okpo, it has gone to Ogugu around OdoIdoko.
“As soon as the contractors get mobilised as the rains recede, the projects will be completed.
The Idah-Umomi road has also made a lot of progress.
It remains about 12 miles to completion.
“The Agassa-Upogoro-Check point road in the Central senatorial district has relatively gone very far.
The Ife-Olukotun Iyamoye road in the West senatorial district has also moved appreciably, he said.
While lamenting that the state has suffered underdevelopment almost 27 years of its existence due to mismanagement of state resources by past administrations, Onoja noted that Governor Yaha- ya Bello’s administration has been blocking leakages and working hard to change the negative narra- tives.
He said the present administration since assumption of office in 2016 had done a lot in improving security, boosting internally gener- ated revenues; improving health- care delivery, education and job creation, amongst other achievements.
