4 suicide bombers kill selves, 12 Civilian JTF, others in Borno

By Sadiq Abubakar Maiduguri Twenty-three persons, including 12 Civilian JTF, seven villagers and four female suicide bombers were yesterday confirmed dead, while 23 others sustained various degrees of injuries in multiple suicide bomb attacks on Molai Kalmari village, an outskirt of Maiduguri, Borno state. According to Babakura Abba Ali, leader of the Civilian JTF in the village, the suicide bombers entered the village around 9.30 pm on Tuesday before moving to different locations and detonated the IEDs killing themselves and others. ” One of the suicide bombers came very close to the sandbag where my men were on the pretence to buy indomie noodles , before my colleagues knew her pranks , she detonated the IED strapped to her body killing herself and six members of the Civilian JTF. “The other two bombers boycotted the Civilian JTF in Sabon-gari in the same village and detonated the IEDs killing themselves, Civilian JTF members and villagers there. The fourth suicide bomber did not get to her target before detonating the IED that killed her alone.

“In all, 12 Civilian JTF died including seven villagers and the four female suicide bombers, while 23 others sustained injuries”, Abba Ali said. He appealed to the Nigerian Army to increase their manpower in the area considering the frequent suicide attacks on Molai village. He also appealed to Borno state government to equip the Civilian JTF in the area and provide lights to enable them know when an enemy was intruding. Borno state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Damian Chukwu, said the attackers targeted mourners at the funeral ceremony in the village, addiung: “You know people usually gather when there is event like this. So the four female suicide bombers found their way into the village and detonated their explosives, killing themselves and others.
