4 feared dead in Edo boat mishap 

Four persons have reportedly died after a passenger boat rammed into a stationed oil company barge in Gelegele River in Ovia South West local government area of Edo state.

Blueprint gathered that the boat was conveying passengers, mostly market women, from Ofunama community when the accident occurred last Thursday.

However, the Edo state Police Command on Monday reacted to the accident, and declared that one person was confirmed dead, while four others were injured.

The police spokesperson in the state,  SP. Chidi Nwabuzor said, “Marine police confirmed that one person died and four others  injured.”

According to him, “Twenty five persons were involved in the accident, one died and four injured while others were rescued unhurt.

“The oil barge was said to have ran out of fuel and was waiting to be refueled when the on-coming passengers boat rammed into it killing one person and injuring four others,” Nwabuzor added.
