Four Policemen attached to Ogbudu Division of the Lagos state Police Command may be dismissed from the Force over alleged extortion of N15,000 from a civilian. According to Shogunle, the containment of the offi cers, followed a viral social media post of August 17, wherein a complainant had alleged that the “two offi cers, one named Mathew Olasiji Olaadujoye and Oba Roland, stationed along Ogudu road today pulled me over and asked for my cell phone. “I refused to hand it over because I felt it was infringement of my privacy, but it was forcefully taken and my messages were viewed along with my account details and other private issues and I was extorted.

“I was detained for four hours and my car keys taken from me until I transferred N15, 000 to Mathew’s account”. According to him, “PCRRU preliminary investigation showed that the policemen on August 16, 2017 at about 11am intercepted the complainant along Ogudu road and in the course of their interaction, went beyond their mandate. “Bank statement of account confi rms that the complainant transferred the N15, 000 into the account of a third party (name withheld). “Th e Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, has directed the Assistant InspectorGeneral of Police, Zone 2 Lagos to carry out a detailed investigation into this alleged misconduct and appropriate disciplinary action taken against anyone found to have erred”, he said.
