4 Akwa Ibom judoka’s invited to National camp

Four Akwa Ibom state Judoka are among the 16 athletes invited to the national preparatory camp at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, Osun state, ahead of the African Judo Championships billed for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. 

Leading the list of the invited judoka is Enku Ewa Ekuta, 2020 African Open Championship gold medalist and National/Sport Festival champion since 2016. She initially competed in the women’s -57 kg category, but later moved to the -63 kg category.

Also on the list is Anietie Asuquo Edem, a gold medalist at the Judo Classic event and 2024 National League gold medalist. He competes in the -73 kg male category.

Third Judoka’s on the  list is Immaculata Nelson Ufot, a silver medalist at the 2024 National Championship. She competes in the -52 kg and -57 kg female categories. 

Last but not the least  is Destiny Paul Ekpo, a Judo classic silver medalist and junior champion. He competes in the -66 kg male category.

According to the state judo head coach, Ewa Ekuta, the quartet are in excellent shape and ready to make both the state and the nation proud. The camp will run till April 18, 2025.
