3 robbers die in gun battle with Kano police

By Bashir Mohammed Kano Kano state Police Command has said that operatives of the Special Tactical Force in collaboration with the state Anti-Robbery Squad, yesterday, engaged armed robbers operating on KanoKatsina road in a gun battle that lasted for 15 minutes, with the robbers fatally injured.

Th ree of them, according to the Kano state police Command’s Public Relations Offi cer, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, were wounded and had on admission at a hospital in Kano, but had been confi rmed dead by a medical doctor Parading the corpses at a press briefi ng in Kano yesterday, Majiya said the hoodlums were reported to be terrorising and robbing traders plying the Kano-Katsina road on their way back from the Charanchi Market in Katsina state.

He said the hoodlums met their waterloo after daring to open fi re on sighting the police patrol team, comprising operatives of the Special Tactical Force and operatives of the Anti- Robbery Squad. He added that the formation of the team was informed by a complaint traders operating along the route, forwarded to the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Rabiu Yusuf, which he obliged. Exhibits recovered from the dead armed robbers included; 2 English made AK- 47 rifl e, two AK-47 magazines, one locally made pistol, 47 rounds of live ammunition, and cutlasses, among others.
