3 days to burial, hoodlums burn down traditional rulers palace in Ebonyi

Just 3 days to the burial of late traditional ruler of Umuezeokaoha community, Eze Igboke Ewa, reports have it that arsonists have set the palace ablaze.

The monarch, Igboke Ewa was shot dead by gunmen in the place during the 2023 electioneering period.

His assailants were said to have shot him repeatedly in the night in his house when they invaded the compound.

Security agents arrested some persons in connection to the murdered monarch while the body was deposited in the morgue.

His family members recently announced his burial to be this weekend.

But his palace was reportedly burnt by unknown persons.

Confirming the report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident to Daily Sun in Abakaliki.

“Yes, I got a signal like that they were called about a fire incident in the late monarch house.

“When I made further inquiry, they said that some people put fire there but let me check the signal on the incident very well and know what really happened “, he stated.

The family of the monarch has vowed to continue with the burial of their father despite the incident.

Some of the members who preferred anonymity, told our Correspondent that they have almost concluded the burial arrangements.
