Frontline musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face Idibia, has enjoined youths in Bayelsa state to eschew violence in the forthcoming election in the state.
Idibia, who spoke at the weekend in Yenagoa at a forum sponsored by the
National Democratic Institute (NDI), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), 2Face Foundation and Bayelsa Non-governmental
Forum (BANGOF) to sensitise the youth on peaceful conduct during the governorship election in the state urged the youth to help to propagate the message of one love in Nigeria.
He charged the youth to abstain from thuggery, ballot box snatching
and other electoral malpractices, and urged all participants to help spread the message to the grassroots.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nasiru Oki, in his remarks, urged
the youth not to kill themselves for people who could forget them when they attained the plum positions.
Represented at the occasion by DSP Emmanuel Idowu of the state police command, the commissioner noted that there would always be a winner and a loser in any contest, adding that one who could not win today might win at other time.
He assured that there would be tight security during the December 5 election, adding that over 10,000 policemen would be deployed from outside the state to complement the strength of those in the state, in addition to the army, civil defence, immigration and other paramilitary agencies.
