298 Nigerians repatriated from Libya in 2 chartered flights –NEMA

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Monday confirmed that a total of 298 stranded Nigerians from Libyan prisons were repatriated back to the country in two separate chartered flights within a week. 

The agency stated that the flight came with 161 returnees on the 21st August, 2023 while another 137 returnees arrived later.

NEMA’s  South-west co-ordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Fariloye, who gave the update said the returnees whose women have spent varying periods in various detention camps in the troubled Northern African country complained of bitter experiences they had  and prayed their enemies would never  pass through it.

“Profile of the returnees indicate that there were 119 adult females, mostly pregnant, 3 female children and 2 female infants while 170 adult males, 3 male children and 1 male infant completed the total of 298 brought back to Nigeria.

“The returnees were brought aboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG and they arrive the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja, at about 1738 hours, Monday night. IOM, NEMA, Port Health and NCFRM were the agencies on ground to receive the returnees,” he said.
