250 irregular migrants arrested in Delta


Chairman of Delta state 17- man Anti Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration tasks force, Peter Mrakpor said about 250 suspects have been arrested for prosecution.

Mrakpor who is also the state commissioner for Justice and Attorney General stated this in Asaba during the inaugural press briefing of the state task force on anti- human trafficking and irregular migration.

He declared that although the rising incident of illegal trafficking is worrisome, but “government will not spare anybody that get involved, as well as their sponsors.”

Attorney General said the State is disturbed by the trend, but the onerous task faced by the Task Force is how best to break the issue of oath taking by those involve in the illegal business.

He said the State is currently prosecuting the Director in charge of child welfare at the Ministry of Women Affairs and one madam Cash at the State High Court in Warri and Asaba.

The Task Force chairman explained that madam Cash who was charged for child theft and Kidnapping is cooling off at Ogwashi- Uku prison, adding, “since her remind child theft has come down”.
