Tolu Arokodare has expressed great enthusiasm to put on the Super Eagles shirt after scoring in Genk’s 2-1 win over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday.
It was the 24-year-old’s 17th league goal this season which sees him top the scorers’ charts.
Arokodare will now turn his attention to international duty having been called up to the Nigeria national team for the very first time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
“It’s always good to help the team with a goal. That’s my job, but the three points are the most important. The atmosphere afterwards in the dressing room was great. You should take a look at my socials,” he said per Voetbalnieuws.
“Sometimes it may have looked like we didn’t try hard enough, but we’ve now shown what we’re top for. The confidence with us was great, and we were motivated after the result in the previous match [4-0 defeat in November].
“I still don’t know how to feel [on International call up]. It’s a mix of only great feelings for my family and me. I can’t wait to put on that shirt.”
