As the highly anticipated continental showpiece draws nearer, Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie is poised to play a crucial role in the team’s quest for glory at Morocco.
The Paris FC shot-stopper has been in scintillating form in 2024, recently bagging a deserved nomination in the shortlist for both the CAF Women’s Player of the Year and the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the year awards.
In a recent interview with OJBsportstv after the defeat to France, Nnadozie asserted that the 11-time-champions are more determined than ever to reclaim the continental title: “It is the last game of the year, but next year we will continue where we stopped. The goal is to win the AFCON and by the grace of God we will,” she said.
Speaking on the potentials of the Super Falcons, Nnadozie expressed admiration for the crop of players in the squad, maintaining that the team has a glorious future ahead: “I always say that we have a bright future, it hasn’t been the same over the past four to five years,” she declared. “We are always moving ahead and growing. We have so many young talents and I think in the next 20 to 30 years, we will not lack good footballers in this team,” she added.
After finishing 4th in the previous tournament, the Super Falcons will be seeking to reignite the spark that propelled them to win three consecutive WAFCON titles in 2014, 2016, and 2018. While Nnadozie herself is only 23, she will be one of the leaders in the squad, tasked with the responsibility of motivating the new faces to achieve continental dominance.
