2025 Copa Libertadores: Conmebol jerks up prize money for competition

Winners of the 2025 Copa Libertadores final, South America’s equivalent of the UEFA Champions League, will receive $24 million prize money, CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez announced today.

A further $500,000 increase was announced for the prize money awarded to winners of the second tier club competition, the Sudamericana, which rewarded last year’s champions with $6 million.

According to the draw held today in the Paraguayan city of Luque, current Copa Libertadores champions, Botafogo, will look to add another title to its trophy cabinet starting in the group stage.

They will face Estudiantes de la Plata, Universidad de Chile and Carabobo,.

Group A: Botafogo (BRA), Estudiantes de la Plata (ARG), University of Chile (CHI) and Carabobo (VEN).

Group B: River Plate (ARG), Independiente del Valle (ECU), Universitario (PER) and Barcelona (ECU).

Group C: Flamengo (BRA), Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito (ECU), Deportivo Táchira (VEN) and Central Córdoba (ARG).

Group D: São Paulo (BRA), Libertad (PAR), Talleres (ARG) and Alianza Lima (PER).

Group E: Racing Club (ARG), Colo Colo (CHI), Fortaleza (BRA) and Atlético Bucaramanga (COL).

Group F: Nacional (URG), Internacional (BRA), Atlético Nacional (COL) and Bahía (BRA).

Group G: Palmeiras (BRA), Bolívar (BOL), Sporting Cristal (PER) and Cerro Porteño (PAR).

Group H: Peñarol (URU), Olimpia (PAR), Vélez Sarsfield (ARG) and San Antonio (BOL).
