Nigeria’s women’s amputee football team, the Special Falcons, have pulled out of the first Women Amputee World Cup event which begins on Monday, 4 November 2024 in Colombia.
The team who were drawn in Group C alongside Ecuador, the USA, and Ukraine, will no longer take part in the inaugural Women Amputee Football World Cup due to the refusal of the Colombia embassy to grant the team’s prayer for visa into the country.
Similarly, the Kenyan Women Amputee Football team also pulled out, making the number of teams to participate in the tournament reduced to 10.
The Cameroonians Amputee Women team is the only African team left in the competition and they will play alongside Brazil, Colombia and Poland in Group A.
Group B will be left with Peru, Haiti, England, after Kenya pulled out .
The World Cup will run from November 4 to November 10, 2024, in Barranquilla Colombia.
