2024 Paris Olympics: Super Falcons vs South Africa cracker gets dates, venues,Banyana coach talks tough

The Banyana Banayana of South Africa now stand between the Super Falcons and a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics women’s football event.

Both teams will do battle in April to determine one of Africa’s two qualifiers for the summer games.

The first leg of the final playoffs is billed for April 1 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Kick-off time is 3pm.

The return leg will be played in South Africa eight days later with the overall winners booking their flight all the way to Paris 2024 to be staged between July 26 and August 11, 2024.

Both teams did not feature at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan, which were eventually organised in 2021.

Meanwhile, Banyana Banyana of South Africa coach Desiree Ellis has warned that it will be “do or die” in a final 2024 Olympics playoff against the Super Falcons in April.

The two rivals will play off for a place at the summer Olympics in Paris after they both came through their third round qualifiers as expected.

Nigeria eliminated Cameroon, while South Africa saw off Tanzania to stay in reckoning for one of two African tickets to the women’s football event in Paris 2024.

“It will be do or die (vs Nigeria),” Ellis declared after her team pipped Tanzania 1-0 at home Tuesday night to go through to the playoffs 4-0 on aggregate.

The CAF Coach of the Year said her team will plan for an early training camp to give them a bigger chance against the nine-time African champions.

“We want to have an early camp, we will improve our chances when we prepare early and very well,” she said.

Match winner against Tanzania at home and captain Thembi Kgatlana said the team are fired up to qualify for the Olympics after they failed to do so for the last summer games.
