2024 election: PDP meets state chairmen, Ondo stakeholders

Ahead of scheduled governorship elections in Ondo state, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday met with stakeholders in the state.

In the same vein, the party also met state chairmen of the party at a closed door meeting.

Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the forum chairman, Mr Felix Hyat, described the meeting as a family affair, saying the party and its stakeholders will keep meeting.

When asked to comment on the Cross-River chapter, Hyat refused to make further comment.

Speaking earlier, the party organising secretary, Umar Bature, said the meeting was held to review the tenure of about 26 states, in terms of ward, local government and state.

The current executives in the states were elected four years ago, where congress were conducted on a staggered basis due to the COVID-19 issues.

Bature stated further: “We have about four – five states that their tenure has expired from the ward to state, that is Edo, Bayelsa, Gombe and Rivers states. There are others which are staggered.

“So, in order not to create vacuum or go into crisis and that is why we have called this meeting. Also, we have issues and crisis in these states. We decided to call you for this meeting to interact with you on the way forward pending when the NEC will seat and decide on all the issues.”
