2019: UniAbuja SUG endorses Adeyeye, Okoro for NASS positions

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Student Union Government (SUG), of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), has endorsed Hon. David Adetunji Adeyeye and Mrs Nma Lancaster Okoro, the Young Progressive Party (YPP) candidates for AMAC/Bwari Federal House of Representatives and Senate, respectively.

Leading a delegation of students on Saturday, include the General Secretary; Peter Favour, Director of Socials; Okonkwo Kenneth, Personal Assistance; Ezeigbo Bright, NANS Stakeholder; Emmanuel Okiti, the SUG President, Comrade Austin Amadi, said the adoption of Adeyeye and Mrs Okoro as the choices of UniAbuja students, was “to send home the message that students are out to retire old politicians”.

Presenting an endorsement plaque to Adeyeye and Mrs Okoro, Amadi said that the over 1.5 million registered voters in UniAbuja will unanimously vote massively for the two YPP candidates on February 16, because they were tired of being deceived by old politicians.

He said that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was a deliberate attempt by politicians to manipulate the votes of UniAbuja students, but that the students  have their tactics of countering and foiling the hidden agenda of the government as far as the 2019 general election was concerned.

He said: “It is in the culture of UniAbuja to endorse our Alumni, but we are making an exception for Hon. Adeyeye and Mrs Okoro, because he has proven himself as a leader who has the interest of people at hand. We have struggled to make sure we get our PVCs this singular objective of voting massively for Adeyeye.

“We are tired of the old politicians deceiving us. The only time they come to us is when they need our votes. Aneke the bird says that since the hunter has learnt to shoot without missing, he will fly without perching. If the corrupt and old politicians can keep us at home for three months, UniAbuja students and students of College of Education Zuba are with Adeyeye and Senator Mma Okoro.”
