2019: Shekarau’s defection further boost to Buhari – Ganduje

Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, yesterday expressed optimism that the recent defection of a former state Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would further boost the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency and the party’s victory in the state come 2019.
Shekarau, speaking through his media aide, Sule Yau Sule, yesterday dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the handing over of the state’s party structure to his successor in office, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who also defected from the APC to the PDP.
Describing the party’s victory at both the federal and state level as a fait accompli, the governor said, Kano, being a strong bastion of high voting capacity still remains the major stronghold of the President.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba, the governor assured that three million voters were ready to vote for the President on the one hand, and himself as governor on the other, considering the wider appeal and the populist disposition of the APC being the ruling party.
According to him, the President has done enough in repositioning the APC on a formidable and promising pedestal in the face of the present ‘sabre-rattling of the PDP’.
He said judging by the parlance of conventional wisdom, the APC capacity at the National Assembly compared to that of the PDP, even in the wake of the recent defection of some key Senators, still remains formidable and waxing stronger.
He said: “Take the example of Kano, the dominance of the APC is still intact and our victory at the polls is a fait accompli.
We know what we have done to serve humanity and we are pretty confident that we would emerge victorious.
Since we came on board; we have designed our blueprint on how to win the confidence of voters and we have earned such a confidence to an appreciable level” he added.
“We have about 70% dominance at the State House of Assembly and about 100 dominance at the National assembly.
We are maintaining a strong and cordial relationship with all the federal appointees at the National level.
To me, it is a monumental feat that we in Kano should be proud of” he affirmed.” “I have no iota of doubt in my mind that as far as service delivery is concerned; we have really lived up to our billing.
The dividends of democracy is something that one can attest that it is being felt in Kano.
Our ability to maintain and enshrine some same-balance of fiscal discipline by entrenching a spirit of transparency, probity and accountability, had instilled high level of public trust in the way we govern,” he posited He called on voters to demonstrate high spirit of maturity, courage and wisdom in using their votes to vote for credible leaders who had served humanity with vigour, stressing that the 2019 still remains another chance to exercise such a civic right.
