Kano state government has expressed its determination to complete the ongoing projects it had embarked upon since the assumption of office of governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje administration.
Speaking to newsmen on the preparations on ground for the continuation of projects in the pipeline for the year 2018, the State Commissioner for Information Comrade, Muhammad Garba said, in 2017 the Ganduje administration constructed roads worth millions of naira in fulfilment of the governor’s campaign promises.
According to him, the Ganduje administration was also able to meet its obligation on accessing funds meant for the establishment of infrastructure, provision of instructional facilities and capacity building under the Universal Basic Education( UBE) scheme, affirming that the state had noticeably blazed the trail on counterpart funding, which is the prerequisite for the release of the funds by the federal government.
He pointed out that the administration had carefully and meticulously scrutinised the contents of the year 2018 budgetary proposal presented by the governor to the State Assembly, positing that the year would be a period of massive projects execution, ranging from the completion of the hydro electric power plant and the establishment of a befitting skills acquisition centre.
On the governor’s strides in education since its assumption of office, the state image maker maintained that government had been consistent on footing the academic bills incurred by Kano indigenes pursuing various programmes in foreign universities, despite the lean finances of the state, lamenting that the Ganduje administration had inherited a huge burden on settling the debts incurred by Kano students.
He further revealed that the immediate past administration had been economical with the truth on the much pronounced claim that it had sponsored hundreds of indigenes of the state with their tuition fees and other academic expenses settled, adding that after thorough and painstaking investigations, it was discovered that the immediate past administration had only employed the services of consultants, who had manipulated figures for parochial considerations.
