2015: Unite to enhance PDP success, Anenih advises South-west leaders

Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih, has called on the leaders of the party in the South-west to reconcile and unite to enhance the success of the party in the zone in 2015 and beyond.
This is even as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, stressed the need for stability and political development in all parts of the federation.
Speaking when he received executives and members of the South West Network (SWN), a pressure group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at his Abuja residence, Anenih said it was imperative for the group to work with elders of the party at the state and the national levels to stem the sliding fortunes of the party in the zone.

He, however, commended the initiative of the group and pledged his support for the group’s determination to ensure victory of the party at the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti and Osun states and other future elections.
“You must brace up to remain steadfast because some other people will try to attack you but since your goals are noble and genuine, then you have my blessing,” he said.

Chairman of SWN, Senator Hosea Agboola, said the group was formed to redress the sliding relevance of the South-west in the nation’s political space, adding that disunity, continuous bickering and leadership vacuum had contributed to the marginalisation of the zone.

Agboola, who is also Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, commended Anenih for his leadership and relentless efforts to stem the crisis in the party, adding that a new lease of life was returning to the party which had helped the reconciliation process.

Speaking separately when he granted audience to the SWN, Anyim told the group to continue to sensitise the people of the zone on the need to see themselves as important segments of the federation and contribute to empowerment of the people at the grassroots.
