A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, has said that the rift between President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi was the handiwork of the Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, which was aimed at frustrating Amaechi.
Sara-Igbe who stated this in an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja at the weekend, warned that if the two-man exco of the party was not dissolved, the PDP would lose Rivers to the APC.

He said Wike who was supposed to reconcile Amaechi and Jonathan couldn’t do so “because of his skimming and politics of exclusion which he is playing to impose himself as the party’s flag bearer in 2015.
He recalled that the appointment of Chief Nyesom Wike as the Chief of Staff to the Governor marked the beginning of the present problems in Rivers state, and the party.

He said: “Upon his resumption, Wike immediately introduced the politics of exclusion in the state. Most of the supporters of Governor Celestine Omehia and those he perceived to be enemies were chased out of the government and he planted his supporters and cronies, particularly those in the same society with him, were given key appointments.
“The issue of who is contesting from the Kalabari is not an important one. As at the appropriate time, I know they will present themselves to the people of Rivers state to decide who among them is the most suitable for the job and who will also work closely with Mr. President and other agencies of government that will attract development into all areas of the state.”
