An aspirant to the Kogi state House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former ECOWAS finance controller, Isyaka Usman Akanson, has said that his desire to represent his people at the House of Assembly was to attract developments to his constituency.
Akanson, who was also a former Director of finance with the Niger River Basin Authority, is seeking election into the Kogi state House of Assembly for Okene 11 state constituency.
Lamenting the backward nature of his constituency, he said he was saddened with the quality of representations from the area since the return of democracy in 1999
He said given his background he intended to give the Okene 11 constituency quality representation, adding that his area had suffered a lot due to the inability of those had represented the area in the past to attract any meaningful progress.
He promised to use his vast experience to attract development not only to his constituency but to Kogi state in general, by initiating quality bills, motions and working in concert with other legislators.
He assured that his party would win the election, adding that his chances of clinching his party’s ticket were bright, since it was the desire of the people to give him the mandate.
“I am confident that I will get the ticket of my party the PDP. My constituency is PDP so we are sure of winning the election. It was my people who called on me to represent them so I am very hopeful,” he said.
The former diplomat called on his supporters to be calm, assuring them that he would never toil or treat the confidence repose in him by them with disdain.
