2014 Hajj seat: Nigeria to maintain quota

Nigeria will maintain the 20 per cent less seat allocation to this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca due to the inconclusiveness of the expansion work.

Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Bello Musa Muhammad, disclosed this yesterday at 2013 Hajj post mortem conference in Abuja.

Muhammad, who disclosed that 76,000 seats had been allocated to Nigeria, just like last year, expressed optimism that by the time the expansion work was completed, Nigeria would reap the benefits.
On the necessity of the conference, he said it was meant to take a look at the last year’s conduct of the exercise with a view to finding out the achievements and the challenges.

Also speaking, the federal government Head of Delegation to the Holy Land, Sultan Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad, expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan, for his continued interest in the exercise and the government’s support.
He said the Commission and the various states agencies had resolved to put heads together to evolve a better way of conducting the exercise.

The leader of the federal government delegation to the Holy Land in 2013, and the Shehu of Borno, Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, said he was grateful to the Sultan for the opportunity given to him to head last year’s pilgrims.
