200 students displaced in Benue school fire incident


A raging fire early hours of Wednesday razed the male hostel of the Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue state, displacing over two hundred students.

The fire incident happened barely two days after another fire razed shops at modern market, Gboko.

Blueprint learnt that more than 200 students of the school were affected in the fire which started at about 8:30 am razing the Green and Orange houses of the Male hostel.

It was further learnt that the fire also badly destroyed cash, foodstuffs,
JAMB, WAEC, and NECO documents and other belongings of the students.  
Also part of the red house of the Male hostel was said to have particularly affected in the incident.

The school Principal, Mr. Francis Iorfa Tarkumbur who spoke with newsmen,  said no nobody was hurt or killed in the fire incident because the occupants of the hostel were in classrooms at the time of the incident.

He said the cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be officially established.
