2 suspected cultists shot dead in Ilorin

Two suspected cult members have been hacked to death in Ilorin, Kwara state.
The incident, according to sources occurred at Akerebiata area, along Sobi Barracks road, Ilorin .
It was gathered that the deceased were accosted in their car, a Toyota Camry, by their assailants at about 6.
30pm on the busy Akerebiata-Sobi Road.
One of the victims, who was driving the car, was shot in the neck at a very close range and reportedly died on the spot while his partner, who was trying to escape was caught by the assailants.
“They cut him severely on the face, in fact it would be very difficult to recognise him after the machete cuts”, an eyewitness said, adding that the assailants had earlier shot sporadically into the air to scare away residents and passers- by.
Eff orts to confirm the incident were futile as at the time of fi ling this report as the spokesman of the state Police command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi could not be reached on his phone.
