The police have arraigned two men, Ibrahim Modu and Mohammed Musa in a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja for stealing a pumping machine, valued at N150, 000.
Modu and Musa of no traceable addresses and no reasonable means of livelihood were charged with two counts of joint act and theft.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Francis Tanko, told the court that on May 10, at about 8 p.m., one Malam Usman Ibrahim of Abuja Plant Nursery Asokoro, Abuja, lodged the report at the Wuse Police Station.
Tanko told the court that at about 6 p.m., Musa and Modu went to the complainant’s construction site in Wuse Zone 7, and stole his pumping machine.
The prosecutor informed the court that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code, punishable with five years in prison or fine or both.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Usman Shaiubu admitted them to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction with traceable address.
Shuaibu adjourned the matter until June 18, for hearing (NAN)
