Two persons were reported killed by armed men at Bakin Kogin Kuka village of Shendam local government area of Plateau atate, a local source has confirmed.
The source, who gave his name as Alhaji Muhammad Abdurrazaq Rangmen, said in a telephone chat that the attackers who were suspected to be Tarok militia from Langtang South LG attacked the youth while loading groundnuts into a lorry truck.
He said: “A group of labourers from Yelwan Shendam that consists of both Muslims and Christians were ambushed by some Tarok youths, numbering at least 15 that attacked them with guns in military uniforms at about 11 am, on Tuesday.
“The attackers rubbed them of their monies, and latter selected out the two Muslims and take them away, across the river and killed them.”
According to him, the attackers had asked of Ankwe tribes and after identifying them they picked the two that were Muslims.
He said those killed are Haruna Aliyu Dangwel as well as Ibrahim Tuansen.
Rangmen said the truck driver had reported the matter to the Divisional Police Office (DPO) of Yelwa and had also reported to sector commander of the Special Task Force (STF).
Our correspondent, who contacted the Media/ Information of the Special Task Force (STF), Captain Ikedichi Iwaha, as well as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abu Emmanuel, reports that both said they would make contact and get back; however, as at press time there was no response from any one of them.
