2 herdsmen, over 40 cattle killed in Plateau

Two Fulani herdsmen and 40 of their cattle were confirmed killed in Danmangu locality of Barikin Ladi local government area, about 30 kilometres away from Jos, the Plateau state capital, a reliable local source has said.

The source who gave his name as Yakabu Abubakar, said: “The killing  took place in the evening of Friday, at Hiepang east, Plateau poly main campus.
“Two boys were shot dead; they were Umar Alhaji Sabo and Saleh Alhaji Abubakar, both living in Bisichi village with their families.”

The source added that one of the herdsmen was stripped naked and was also missing, while 40 more cattle were rustled and some others injured.
According to him, the matter had since been reported to the men of the Special Task Force (STF) in the area.

Confirming the incident to our reporter yesterday via a telephone chat, the Special Task Force (STF) Media/Information Officer, Captain Salisu I. Mustapha, said “two herdsmen and 38 of their cattle were killed.”

Mustapha added that eight other cattle sustained various degrees of injury.
Our correspondent reports that the recurrent criminal attacks and killings of herdsmen as well as cattle rustling has been causing reprisal attacks and subsequent killings of many lives within mainly the three LGAs of Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Riyom.
