2 feared killed as rival cults clash in Enugu

Residents of Abakpa-Nike, a suburb in Enugu East local government area of the state, are panicking following the killing of three people in a renewed cult clash that allegedly started Sunday night.

Police could not confirm the incident, Blueprint learnt, as the residents no longer stay outside beyond 7pm; a situation that had hampered evening businesses in the area.

Blueprint gathered that the renewed cult war was between the Neo-Black Movement of Africa (also called Black Axe), the Brotherhood of the Blood (also known as Two-Two (Black Beret)) and the Supreme Vikings Confraternity (SVC).

An eyewitness, a security operative, told our correspondent that two of the slain cultists were killed at Ugboye, while the third one was killed at Ukwu-Aki.

The source said “since the renewed clash the residents have no known no peace.”
It was also gathered that before the arrival of policemen from Abakpa division, the group’s members killed had taken custody of their slain brothers.

When the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, was contacted via a text message, he replied that “no such report before us.”
