2 die in Fulani, community clash in Niger

Two persons have reportedly died in a clash between Fulani and Nupe youth groups in Katcha area of Niger state.
The incident was said to had occurred at Kakakpangi village in Katcha when the Fulani youth were celebrating their Sallah festival.
The Niger state Police Command confirmed the incident, saying that one person had been arrested while three motorcycles were recovered.

The command image-maker, ASP Bala Elkana, confirmed in a statement yesterday that one Ladan Idris and another unidentified youth died in the clash.
He said that the scuffle started when    youths of Kakakpangi village, tried to stop the celebration resulting in the use of dangerous weapons and sticks.

“The corpse of an unidentified Fulani youth suspected to be part of the scuffle, was recovered the next day in the bush at Kakakpangi while the situation has been brought under control by a team of policemen deployed to the area”, he said.
