2 almajiri escape ritual murder in Bauchi

 

Two pupils of a Tsangaya Islamic school, otherwise known as Almajiris in Bauchi local government area of Bauchi state, on Wednesday, last week, escaped death from a suspected ritualist who abducted them to Gubi dam in the outskirt of the town for ritual sacrifice.

Speaking with newsmen on the development yesterday, the Commander of a vigilance group, Garu Security Guards, Dawa Ya’u Felu, said the two almajiri, Hassan Usman, and Sa’idu Muhammad, both of whom reside at Qur’anic teacher, Malam Umar Muhammad Ladan, of Ibrahim Bako Quarters, Bauchi, were allegedly abducted by the suspect one Usman Adamu Aliyu.

Felu, who disclosed that one of the almajiri was injured on the head by their captor when he hit him with a big stone, said his screams made his fellow to flee and attracted the attention of the farmer that came to their aid.

Reacting to the incident, the teacher of the Qur’anic pupils, Malam Umar Muhammad Ladan, told journalists that the boys used to conduct house works in the residence of their abductor (Usman) where they were being rewarded with food instead of roaming about the town begging.

He said he had not fewer than 150 pupils under him, adding that no such incident had ever happened to any of them until now.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Bauchi state police command, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, confirmed the incident, saying they were still gathering information on the matter and assured that he would provide details to newsmen.
