198 kilometres ring road to commence soon – Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state Thursday said all is set for the commencement of the 198 killometre ring road in the state.

Umahi revealed this when he inspected the roads with the view of knowing it present state before commencement of work.

He described the project  as landmark considering  its strategic importance.

He however, said that upon completion, the road will open the suburbs for greater economic development.

He assured of completing  the projects  shortest possible time as no stone will be left unturned to ensure it is delivered on time.

The project goes across all the local government areas in Ebonyi North and Central Senatorial zone, including Izzi, Ebonyi, Ikwo, Ezza South, Ezza North, Ohaukwu, Ishielu and Abakaliki LGAs.

It is being funded by African Develooment Bank (ADB) and Islamic Bank .

A resident, Mr James Okorie noted that the road will help to boost commerce and industry in the rural areas.

“As you know, Ebonyi is as agrarian state but the challenge has always been access to markets by farmers and traders for the selling and buying of farm produce.

“This project will make the problem a thing of the past as evacuation of the products will now be made very easy for farmers and traders alike”, he said.
