19 vulnerable women groups trained on cooperative management in Yobe

As part of the effort to ensure cooperatives work as genuine bodies in accordance to the universality accepted cooperative principles in the state, Sassakawa Africa Association in partnership with Yobe state Agricultural Development Programme (YOSAPD) has trained 19 Vulnerable women groups on cooperative bye law,record keeping and conduct of group meeting.

The training by UN-Women which was funded by the government of Japan took place on Friday at FADAMA hall,State Ministry of Agriculture,Yobe state Secretariat.

The women groups were also trained on financial contribution and management, collective production, marketing and business development respectively.

The Coordinator, Sassakawa Africa Association, Mallam Idriss Garko, said the training was aimed at empowering the women and register them with the state ministry of commerce and cooperative for future projects intervention.

Garko stated that,10 women groups drew from damaturu while 8 women groups from gashua were to register under Multi purpose competitive society in the state.

“The women group also empowered with dry season rice irrigation,wet grinding machine and small ruminant animals”, he said.
