The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has commenced acceptance of entries for the 18th edition of the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting (WSAIR).
A press statement by Executive Director/CEO, WSCIJ, Motunrayo Alaka, said the applications opened from Wednesday, October 4, and would close on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 by 4 pm.
He noted that the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting was aimed at recognising exceptional journalism across various genres, including print, online, photojournalism, editorial cartooning, television and radio that investigate public and corporate corruption, expose human rights violations, and highlight regulatory abuses in Nigeria.
“A panel of media experts and industry professionals will assess entries using WSCIJ’s meticulous award coding and vetting system.
“Judges will evaluate submissions based on criteria such as the quality of investigation, strength of evidence, adherence to ethical reporting standards, journalistic courage, individual creativity, public interest, tangible impact, and overall presentation.
“This award, since its inception in 2005, has celebrated the contributions of 116 finalists, 59 Soyinka Laureates, 13 investigative journalists of the year and 28 honorary award recipients,” Alaka noted.
