1,680 ad-hoc staff mobilised for Saturday by-election in Jigawa – REC


The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in charge of Jigawa state, Dr Mahmoud Isa HAS said that 1,680 ad-hoc staff queued against the forthcoming Saturday by election in Babura/Garki federal constituency.

REC stated this Thursday while speaking to news men shortly before dispatching the sensitive electoral materials from the INEC office in Dutse to Garki and Babura local government areas.

He4 said there are about 17,778 registered voters across the 302 official polling units in Garki/Babura federal constituency.

He said arrangement had reached 85% completion with the readiness to conduct the by election on Saturday this week to replace the federal lawmaker that passed away in December 2019.

He added  that sensitive materials stored in Central Bank of Nigeria, Dutse, were taken to state INEC headquarters for onward dispatch to Garki/Babura under the presence of security operatives and representatives of three parties.

He said only three parties including All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Peoples Party (APP) that are going to contest in Saturday’s by-election.
