167 students to receive Usman Danfodio varsity first class degrees 


The Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, has concluded arrangements to conduct its 38th, 39th, 40th, 41th joint convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, has said.

Professor Bilbis, who stated this at the pre convocation press conference held at the Ahmadu Bello House, main campus, said 167 students would receive first class degrees in different disciplines.

He added that out of the figures, 18, 217 students will receive various Bachelor’s degrees, while 427 students will receive Diplomas and Certificates.

According to him, 4,288 graduating students would receive various higher degrees and postgraduate Diplomas.

He said 296 will receive doctoral degrees,1,322 would receive Masters degrees while 2,670 would receive Post Graduate Diploma in their various fields. 

He further stated that while  167 students will receive First Class degrees in various fields, 3,486 will receive Second Class-Upper, 9, 573 Second Class Lower while 15 will go home with pass.

He said some distinguished Nigerians would be awarded with Honourary Doctorate degrees and Professor Emeritus. 

Bilbis outlined the week-long activities which according to him include convocation debate, drama, novelty football match, lecture, among others.
