No fewer than 15 persons on Wednesday evening lost their lives in a motor accident which occurred on Magongo-Okene road in Kogi state.
The state Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Goodwin Omiko, who disclosed this to newsmen in Lokoja, said the accident happened at about 10: 15 pm and involved three vehicles.
He said the victims of the accident which occurred at the border between Kogi and Edo states were mostly public health officers under the employ of the Local Government Service Commission, Kaduna State.
He added that the public health officers were 400-level students travelling to Cotonou, the Republic of Benin capital, to write their first semester examination at Houdegbe North American University.
Also killed in the accident, he said, was a female child on the trip with her mother.

He said the accident occurred when a Toyota bus with registration number Kogi LG 25 DAH rammed into an oncoming Toyota Hiace passenger bus with registration number Lagos AAA 463 XD which also hit another vehicle in the front.
The sector commander added that the bus immediately caught fire, and burnt 14 of the passengers beyond recognition.
He said three victims, including a female child, were rescued alive by FRSC official, but the child later died in the hospital, a few hours after.

Omiko, who said eight men and six women lost their lives, noted that 12 of the victims had been given mass burial at the public cemetery at Magongo in the presence of policemen from Ogori police division, while the corpses of the female child and that of two other male adults were still in the morgue of the General Hospital, Obangede.
He said one Idris Abdulahi, the driver of the Toyota Hiace bus with registration number Kogi LG 25 DAH believed to be responsible for the crash due to the influence of alcohol, had been arrested and now in police custody.
He charged motorists to desist from night travels, saying that apart from poor visibility, rescue operation could be difficult to carry out in the night. No fewer than 15 persons on Wednesday evening lost their lives in a motor accident which occurred on Magongo-Okene road in Kogi state.
