Not fewer than 12 persons were reported to have been attacked and killed in Rapian in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state, Blueprint has gathered from a resident.
The source said the attackers who invaded the area at mid-night also left five others injured.
Blueprint further gathered that the attack was as a result of the rustling of some 55 cattle on February 11, this year, in the same community.
Media/Information officer, Operation Safe Heaven of the Special Task Force (STF), Captain Salisu I. Mustapha, said while confirming the incident that at about 12:00 hours of Wednesday night some people suspected to be Fulani, “attacked and killed 12 people and injured five at Rapian villige in Barki Ladi local government area of Plateau state.”
“The attack is believed to be a reprisal to the rustling of 55 cows belonging to the Fulanis on February 11, 2014.”
Mustapha further said their men had taken control of the area, adding that it was “now calm.”
