11 Jigawa communities sacked by raging flood

No fewer than 11 Jigawa communities have been sacked by raging floods in Ringim local government area of the state.

This was stated by the chairman of Ringim local government area, Hon Shehu Sule Udi, while speaking to reporters at the IDPs camp on Wednesday.

He said the communities were ravaged and displaced by perennial flooding, killing many people, destroying houses, farmlands and other properties, caused by the overflow of Tiga dam in Kano state.

He explained that the communities sacked included Dabi, Majiyawa, Dingare, Gabarin, Yandutse, Malamawar, Cori, Gujaba, Sankara, Auramo and Garin Gada, among others.

The chairman said the local government had evacuated the victims and relocated them to the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Ringim and Gerawa towns.

He said food, drinking water and medication had been provided to them by the local government to cushion the trauma being suffered by the victims.

The council chairman however urged the state, federal government and individuals as a matter of urgency to come to the rescue of the victims.
