10th NASS: Group drums support for Abbas/Kalu

As the 10th National Assembly will be inaugurated on Tuesday, 13 June 2023, the Amalgamated Niger Delta APC Support Group from 9 states of the Niger Delta has called on all Honourable members-elect to support the speakership of Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

Convener/National Coordinator of the Support Group, Comrade Tamaramienbi David Corson, said Hon. Abbas and Kalu are capable of leading the House for a better and properous Nigeria.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the group in Abuja, comrade Corson and the Secretary of the support group, Elder Simon Okonkwo noted that the duo have all the required qualifications to be the speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of representatives considering their wealth of experiences.

Hon. Tajudeen Abbas is currently representing Zaria Federal constituency, North West Nigeria in the 9th National Assembly, while Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu representing Bende Federal Constituency of Abia state.

Recall that Hon.Tajudeen Abass from Kaduna State and Hon. Benjamin Kalu from Abia State were anointed as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House respectively.

Comrade Corson called on the supporters of Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, the anointed candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker to maintain their ground as the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly is fast approaching.

The group asserted that the duo will definitely deliver if they are elected and inaugurated as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 10th National Assembly.

According to group, “The Amalgamated Niger Delta APC Support Group from 9 states of the Niger Delta Region stands behind you because we believe in you to perform excellently.”

He said, “The duo will build a stable, strong, united, harmonious and all-inclusive parliament that will deliver on life-changing people’s legislation that will help the country to move forward.”

The National Coordinator of the group further stated that the commitment of the Abbas/Kalu to the 10th National Assembly leadership was not in doubt, as shown by the readiness of the duo to carry every member along in the quest to deliver on the agenda for a people’s parliament that will assist in realising the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Comrade Corson said, “The Abbas and Kalu’s team spirit and unity are the first of their kind in the leadership race, with a Speaker and Deputy Speaker running together with a clear agenda for the members and the country.”

Consequently, the group urged other aspirants vying for the position to jettison their ambitions, and support the Abbas and Kalu towards delivering a people-oriented 10th National Assembly.
