Deputy governor of Jigawa state and chairman state’s task force committee on immunisation and polio eradication, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud, has said that over 1.7 dosage of polio vaccine would be administered to targeted children below five years.
Mahmud, who said the exercise would be carried out by the state Primary Health Agency while flagging up the first round of polio immunisation exercise at Madobi village in Dutse local government area yesterday, assured the people of government’s determination to kick
polio out of the state..
He said “it is a government responsibility to provide effective health care delivery to everyone and small children in particular.”
He added that “the polio virus is dangerous disease and it must be wiped out such dangerous disease.”
“We are very happy that for a long period, one and a half year there is no any report of polio case in this state, all this had been succeeded with the supports from traditional, religious leaders and parents.”
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tafida Abubakar, said for over 18 months, “there is no any report of polio case in any parts of the state.”
“All had been achieved following government effort and commitment towards polio and other diseases eradication in the state,” he said.
