Kaduna state Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has promised that Kaduna state electorate “will give President Muhammadu Buhari 3.2 million votes in next month’s presidential election.”

Speaking when the Presidential Campaign Council touched down in Kaduna, Friday evening, at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, which was filled to capacity, el-Rufai said “Kaduna, Katsina and Kano states contributed large percentage of the votes that won the presidential election for Buhari in 2015.”

“We have almost four million voters in Kaduna state, and from what the President and APC have achieved and our performance, we promise to give Mr. President 80% of our votes in Kaduna state. The people of Kaduna state, on February 16, which is my birthday, I want you to give me a birthday present which I will cherish for the rest of my life by giving Mr. President 90% votes,” he said.

President Buhari, in his address, reassured the people of Kaduna state that if they re-elected him, his government would not relent in his fight against corruption and insecurity.

He said: “When we came to power we promised you security, then Boko Haram controlled 17 local government areas, but today they control none. They were pushing children mainly girls as suicide bombers, but that has abated.

“The majority of our people are youth, but we had good rainy season and we brought down the price of fertiliser from N9, 000 to N5, 500 which boosted agriculture. We thank the governors of Lagos, Ogun Ebonyi, Kano,  Katsina, Jigawa, and Kebbi states who produced rice for our people.

“All those who stole our money, we would track them down wherever they are; we would retrieve our money from them. All the money stolen, houses and properties of those who looted our country will be confiscated and kept for our people. When you vote for us, we promise you that we won’t steal your money and we won’t allow anybody to steal your money and go scot-free.”

In his remarks, APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said he was excited to be back home, adding: “I was to hold my own Tudun Wada Tudun Nupawa meeting yesterday when I came to town before moving down to Kakuri and Makers. I came by road and found out that Kaduna is 100% sai baba sai Buhari

“Mr. President with the work you are doing and by the time we find solution to the issue of power, the textile industries will return. It was during Atiku (as vice-president) that the textile industries were closed and he has promised that if he is elected, he will give his friends money and he would sell our refineries, he would sell the railway, he will sell our assets, but God will not allow him win. He thought we were insane, but we are not. We should show him that by voting for APC at all levels in the forthcoming elections.”

Governor of Kebbi state, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, in his remarks, reiterated the support given by President Muhammadu Buhari to all the 36 states.

The 25,000-capacity stadium was filled up with more supporters milling around hoping to catch a glimpse of President Buhari.

APC supporters started trickling into the Stadium as early as 8am, despite the fear of missing the Friday Jumuat prayer, the crowd did not reduce and barely 20 minutes after the prayer the stadium was filled up even as the President and his entourage did not arrive till minutes past 5pm.
