Updated – Insecurity: Buratai charges commanders on synergy with Police, others

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai has charged commanders of units and formations of the Nigerian Army to collaborate with the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to ensure security in their areas of responsibilities.

The Army Chief gave the directive in Bauchi, Bauchi state, after the inauguration of new Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess at the 33 Artillery Brigade, as part of his operational visit to the 3 Division Nigerian Army area of responsibility.

He said Messes are not just a place where personnel socialised, but an atmosphere for regimentation of military ethic and practice.

Buratai said the army had decided to build a new Mess for the Warrant Officers and Sergeants due to their growing numbers and the dilapidated nature of the old one.

Lt. General Buratai, who also inaugurated 16 blocks of 10 flats for soldiers at Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Obienu Baracks, Bauchi, said the army leadership would continue to accord top priority to the welfare of officers and soldiers, as well as that of their families.

He said the Nigerian Army had renovated several accommodations and built several others in barracks across the country, in order to improve the standard of its personnel, despite lean resources.

The army chief also inaugurated the 3 Division Training School, Jos, Plateau state, where he stated that professionalism remained the bedrock of military profession.

He said the school located close to the shooting range would ensure marksmanship, as the vast land would provide enough space for effective battle procedure, the use of tanks and other support weapons to maneuver.
