Gov Ishaku declares Taraba peaceful as Buratai storms Gembu


 
The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku has said that Taraba is now relatively peaceful due to the efforts of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
The governor said this when he played host to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai at the Government House Jalingo.
He said the efforts of the security agencies have yielded result as the state is witnessing relative security and peace for the people to pursue their socio-economic activities. 


Last year, Taraba state experienced some security  challenges, that led to death of several people.
Ishaku assured that the state government would continue to support the army to discharge their duties in the state. 
Ishaku commended the army chief for his leadership and said what he needed was peace to move the state forward in terms of development. 


“Your men are always out there for our peace and security,” he said.
Earlier, Buratai informed the governor that he was in the state on operational visit and to inaugurate Forward Operation Base (FOB) at Gembu.


Buratai assured the army would always work with sister security agencies to secure the lives and property of the people of the state.

Taraba state shares boundary with the Republic of Cameroon at Gembu, a town found on Mambila plateau. It is the headquarters of Sardauna Local Government.
