Election: My dedication, loyalty earned me assembly seat – Only PDP elected Yobe lawmaker

The newly and only elected member under the auspices of Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe, Lawan Sani Inuwa Nguru alias ‘Mr. Las’
for Nguru central at the State House of Assembly has said his dedication, loyalty and confidence reposed on him was the reason behind his victory at polls.

Lawan disclosed this to Blueprint on Monday while speaking on his acceptance by the people of Nguru central that led to his victory.

“We campaigned house-to-house and explained our manifestos to them, having known fully that we will not betray them and will work towards the future of our younger ones and God gave it to us”
The Member-elect who is the youngest among the 24 legislatures elected, said it was since 2015 that he decided to contest under All Progressives Congress (APC) but that was not possible.

He later decamped to PDP to unseat the incumbent member, Shuaibu Hamza of
APC.

On whether he will re-decamped to APC after winning the election, Lawan
said it was not a personal decision but a collective one.
He however, said the incoming government under Mai Mala Buni must work towards providing social amenities and infrastructure to his people to be able to convince them on any matter.

He told Blueprint that the first bill he would present at the house as establishment of a radio station.

“Our people have been cut-off in terms of communication, we depend on
media stations of other states. So my first bill is to get radio station in the Nguru emirate for our people to be getting information, sensitised on issues.” he said.

Lawan is son of the former PDP Chairman in the state that decamped to
APC few days to presidential election in 2019.
