Church instrumental to Nigeria’s devt – Cleric

Pastor Steve Praise Unubi of Achiever’s Assembly (Fulfil Destiny
International Church) Chukuku, in Kuje, Abuja-FCT said the church has
been instrumental to the development of Nigeria.

He made this observation on Friday at the completion of this year’s 12 days of ‘Unlimited Advancement’-a progemme that involved fasting and prayers with the theme: “In The Beginning”.

He said the history of Nigeria’s developmental strides, cannot be complete without the mention of the contributions of the church.

He said the church was noted for its contributions in the development of Nigeria in the areas of education, health and provision of other social services.

The cleric said the church could do more to rescue the nation in key crisis areas if adequately encouraged.

“I think that religion in Nigeria has been a great factor for development in this country.”

He noted that, Christian religion over the years brought about development by way of social services, providing health clinics, and in same places, they provided roads for the rural people, adding that, in the beginning, the traditional Christian groups such as the Catholic and other Pentecostal churches were all working together in these areas.

He said going back to the church to revive the philosophy is the best way for the nation’s development.

He stated that, crisis in the university system would have been minimal if government had involved the church in the provision of university education as it did in the lower levels of education.
Incidentally, pastor Steve Praise Unubi stated that, the government in its lack of foresight, did not involve religion organizations in the provision of tertiary education, which would have gone a long way in the area of
education for the country.

He called on Nigerians, especially at this trying period to exercise
patriotism, commitment to service and ensure the peace and progress of
the country in order to rebuild the country towards meeting expected
goals.  He urged government at all levels to provide the basic
necessities to galvanize development of human resources.
