Anambra Assembly passes House Services Commission Bill into law

The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed House Services Commission Bill 2018 into law.

The bill which was sponsored by Barrister Chugboo Enwezor and 26 others, would help the state legislative body on its quest for financial autonomy.

Accordign to the Chairman, Anambra State House Committee on Services, Hon. Boniface Okonkwo, the Commission which shall consist of a Chairman and four other members with at least one member drawn from each of the three senatorial zones in the state, would enable the House to discharge its duties creditably.

Also speaking, the member representing Onitsha-North 1 state constituency, Hon. Chugbo Enwezor, said that passing the bill into law by the 6th assembly would contribute immensely to improvement of state house of assembly operations.

The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu, who read the bill for third time before passage, disclosed that various State Houses of Assembly in the country had sought for it for the purposes of financial autonomy.

Maduagwu noted that the 6th assembly has recorded a monumental achievement with the passage of the bill, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari has already set up committees nationwide to monitor states with a view to ensuring proper implementation of their financial autonomy.
