Director of Department of State Services (DSS) of the FCT Command, Alhaji Ado Muazu has pledged support to Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council in its fight against fake journalists operating in the territory.
Muazu made this known in Abuja, when the NUJ FCT Exco led by the Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche paid him a courtesy call.
Muazu, who was represented by the Command’s Deputy Director for
Security Enforcement, Mr. Musa Mohammed said the command will partner
with the council to promote peaceful co-existence among people.
He said the collaboration is vital given the fact that the country belongs to us all and there is every need for us to work together at all time to promote peace and national security.
Muazu informed that command will work with the council to get the populace
truly informed on security matters.
He advised newsmen to always cross check their story source for balance in order not to lose credibility.
Muazu said they have been engaging in inter-agency collaboration with
the FCT Minister’s support and encouragement.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of Council, Emmanuel Ogbeche said the
council found it imperative to collaborate with DSS, given the fact
that the command is critical to nation’s growth and development as
nothing will thrive in a state of insecurity.
He, however, solicited for the support of the command in war against fake
journalists; fake news and hate speech which he said were most
pronounced during elections.
