PDP begs Nigerians: Forgive us for failing you

The Peoples Democratic Party has admitted making mistakes while in charge as Nigeria’s ruling party.

It therefore called for forgiveness from Nigerians as well as support to liberate them from the governing All Progressives Congress.

Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi , made the plea at the presentation of a N250 million scholarship scheme to indigent undergraduates in Osun West Senatorial District, donated by Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, in Ede, Osun state.

Makarfi , who was the guest of honour at the occasion, urged those that had left the party to return, saying the party has realised its mistake.

“In PDP, it is going to be promises made, promises kept.  We are going to have full time governor in PDP.

No doubt, we have our problems, we have made eff orts to correct it, we are not like the government that doesn’t take correction.

“We apologise to those the party has off ended and we called on those that have not joined to come and join.

Nigeria has suff ered enough; the broom is no longer sweeping well. Come and stay under the umbrella,” he said.

In his remark, sponsor of the scheme, Senator Ademola, disclosed that 66 students were selected in all the 10 local governments of his senatorial district.

He said the programme was the sustenance of a scholarship award scheme instituted by his late brother and predecessor, Senator Isiaka Adeleke in 2007.

“Our graduates shall be aff orded the opportunity of jobs within limited available vacancies at the various federal agencies without let or hindrance or undue favouritism.

“Let me emphasise, however, that the jobs are not just there for the asking, hence my resolve in the nearest future, to establish skill acquisition centres, as a means of reducing the problems of the underprivileged, the helpless and the disadvantaged in the society.

” He appealed to PDP members and its leadership in the state to close ranks and present a credible candidate that would win the governorship election, come next year.
