Nigerian youth adopt ADC for 2023 aspiration

Nigerian youth over the weekend adopted African Democratic Congress (ADC) as party to field all youth aspirants across the country in the 2023 general election.

The youth, under the umbrella body of Nigerian Youths Home and Diaspora Electoral College Institution (NYHDECI) also blamed the failure of Buhari-led government on the infiltration of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NYHDECI initiator, Ambassador Vincent Anthony Ubani, who stated this in a statement made available to Blueprint said, “We faced calamity in the 16 years of PDP government. This was the reason behind the force we put in place to remove the PDP for APC to takeover leadership. But it is regrettable that the actions large population of Nigeria youth activist took ended up being hijacked by PDP, as the same group of politicians moved fast into APC, hijacked the process and bought up all sorts in APC government which is the reason behind the failure in APC President Buhari led-government.”

He noted that President Buhari in 2019 said youth should wait until 2023.

“It is on these words of Mr President that the youth home and abroad through strategic synergy to ensure the formation of a new Nigeria government of young generation adopted African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the one party system for every youth and young candidates to fly the ADC tickets starting from the Lagos state LGAs chairmanship, ward and counsellorship election to Anambra and Ekiti state governorship election.”

He added that to ensure the youth are in one accord, “We carried out an online voting having the young political parties that are youth friendly— AA, AAC, ADC RMP and YPP, but, ADC won the voting with 40%, followed by YPP that came second as declared on the 27th of March, 2021, by the chairman Lagos state Electoral College Panel Committee, Comrade Ambassador Hamza Abdulsalam at the inauguration of mothers and ladies wing of the party in Lagos state.

“It is time for the youth to takeover leadership, but to do so, they must come together to get involved in politics.”
